How weekly pickups work in Albuquerque

Pickup is usually every week in the summer but will move to once a month from Nov-February. It's for All Adults And Kids 8 And Up. Location being announced soon.

  • Pickup starts with beginner friendly for the first 30 min.
  • then we play King of the Net for an hour or so
  • Then we play open net where you play with anyone you want

How the AYSL seasonworks

Different leagues/age groups

Team make up

Each team will have 6 - 9 players. 6 of which will play together creating 3 pairs per team. The extra 3 players will sub out with the match. The pairs are not set and will switch teammates periodically as the match continues. Every kids will play at least 4 of the 5 rounds.

Practices

Practices will be held one day a week for one hour at a local park. The coach will teach kids crucial skills to improve their game and have a scrimmage at the end of practice. Players will get a chance to partner with everyone at the practice to create friendships and team unity. Players who are just getting into it will be a large focus of the practice!

Match play

Matches will consist of two teams playing every pair of the other team each game won is a point for the team. There will be 15 games per match and the team with the most points at the end of the match wins.

Little League

Serving lines will be at 4 ft from the net. Gentlemen’s serves. No service faults. Overall more lenient play.

Middle School

Serving lines will be 6ft from the net. Stay away from being strict in carry calls. Hard serves allowed and double faults

High School

Serving lines will be 7ft from the net. There will be a foot and a half barrier that players must stay out in order to spike the ball. Aka There is a No Hit Zone

Albuquerque Monthly Scramble Event (All skill levels)

  • No partners, register by yourself. You'll be assigned a new partner every round.
  • King of net style. All rounds are worth 1 point.
  • You switch teammates every net.
  • You play with each person at your net and then every 3 games we assign you a new net.
  • Play to 11 (win by 2 points).
  • Every 3 rounds you are resorted and reassigned to a new net based of your points with the exception of the first few games which will be assigned randomly.
  • Super fun!

All league games will be played at
Things happen. However, your team needs at least 4 people to compete. You and your coach can work together to find a replacement for the match you will miss. It only costs $10 to play on a team that isn't your own for one match. That athlete would need to register online as a replacement athlete.
Yes, this spring there will be a middle school league and a high school league. Be sure to invite your friends. The more teams we have the easier it will be.
